Sprecken: The Destiny Dance - Full Script - Pages 1-3

PAGE 1

SPLASH PAGE - The story begins with JAMES SPRECKEN, the former hero from the 1930’s called Mr. Midnight, sitting at his desk in his new PI office. With his feet propped up on the windowsill of his large office window, SPRECKEN has his chair angled so he can look out the window and keep his eyes on the office door at the same time. He is looking out into the early night sky and watches the rain fall.

He’s wearing his usual grey suit, with white shirt and black tie, along with his trademark mask. His trenchcoat is hanging up on a coat rack next to the door (most likely off panel, but you need to know the location of the coat for later). He’s holding a small glass of whiskey in his hand.

CAPTION - BEING A QUIET NIGHT, I DECIDED TO STAY IN AND ENJOY A RELAXING EVENING OF DOING NOTHING BUT HAVE A FEW DRINKS AND STARE OUT AT THE RAIN. APPARENTLY, SEATTLE HAS HAD A BAD REP WHEN IT COMES TO RAIN, BUT TO ME, THE RAIN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CONSTANT REMINDER THAT SOME THINGS JUST STAY THE SAME.

CAPTION - AFTER ALL THE CHAOS OF BEING THROWN THROUGH TIME ABOUT A HUNDRED YEARS INTO THE FUTURE, THINGS HAD FINALLY CALMED DOWN FOR ME. I HAD JUST RECENTLY GOT MY PI LICENSE RENEWED AND HAD SET MYSELF UP IN A SOMEWHAT NEW OFFICE IN THE OLD PART OF TOWN.

CAPTION - I HAD FINALLY GOTTEN MY LIFE BACK INTO ORDER…

PANEL 1 - A curvaceous brunette, by the name of CASSANDRA, enters his office. She is dressed in a slinky, but respectable, dress and a raincoat of her own. CASSANDRA is one of those girls that have those “looks to kill for”. Even though she seems somewhat agitated and a bit nervous, she is still composed enough that her beauty and presence certainly got SPRECKEN’s attention.

CAPTION - …WHEN, AS THE SAYING GOES, SHE WALKED IN.

CAPTION - RIGHT AWAY, I WAS TAKEN BACK BY HER BEAUTY, BUT I’D BEEN IN THIS BUSINESS LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT USUALLY MEANT TROUBLE.

CASSANDRA - MR. SPRECKEN. THANK GOODNESS I FINALLY FOUND YOU.

PANEL 2- SPRECKEN sits up straight as he turns to give CASSANDRA his full attention. He puts his drink down on his desk at the same time.

CAPTION - OH YEAH, SHE WAS DEFINITELY TROUBLE.

CAPTION - BUT WHAT THE HELL, I WAS BORED.

SPRECKEN - CAN I HELP YOU, MISS…?

PANEL 3 - Looking a bit relieved to have finally found the man she sought out, CASSANDRA closes the door behind her as she enters the office.

CASSANDRA - CASSANDRA… CALL ME CASSANDRA.

CASSANDRA - I CERTAINLY HOPE YOU CAN, MR. SPRECKEN. YOU CAME HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FROM MISS MCCOY.

PANEL 4 - SPRECKEN gets up from behind his desk to meet her.

CAPTION - A BODYGUARD TO THE STARS, DALLAS MCCOY WAS A FINE DISH IF EVER THERE WAS ONE. A DAME WITH FIERY, RED HAIR AND ATTITUDE, WITH THE SKILLS TO BACK IT UP. DALLAS WAS ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE I KNEW IN THIS TIME THAT I TRUST.

SPRECKEN - WELL, WHO AM I TO ARGUE WITH DALLAS. HOW CAN I BE OF SERVICE?

PANEL 1 - CASSANDRA approaches SPRECKEN in a slinky sort of way, as she tells him what she needs.

CASSANDRA - I AM IN NEED OF SOMEONE WITH CERTAIN ABILITIES, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

PANEL 2 - SPRECKEN leans against his desk. He rolls his head up in exasperation as he hears what she wants.

CAPTION - NOT THIS AGAIN. I HAD BEEN GETTING PEOPLE ALL MONTH TRYING TO HIRE THE “SUPERHERO”. ALTHOUGH, I’M SURE IT DOESN’T HELP THAT I STILL WEAR MY MASK.

SPRECKEN - OH, I SEE…

SPRECKEN - WELL, I DON’T DO THAT ANYMORE. I’M JUST TRYING TO EARN A LIVING AS A REGULAR JOE, TRYING TO KEEP MY NOSE CLEAN. I DON’T NEED ANY MORE HASSLES FROM THE COPS OR THE MOB.

PANEL 3 - CASSANDRA and SPRECKEN are face to face now, with CASSANDRA doing what these kind of girls do best, pouting and putting out her lower lip in order to get what she wants.

CASSANDRA - THAT’S TOO BAD…

SPRECKEN - OH? WHY IS THAT, DOLL?

PANEL 4 - Turning serious, CASSANDRA leans in and whispers into SPRECKEN’s ear.

CASSANDRA - …BECAUSE IN A FEW SECONDS, SOME MEN ARE GOING TO KILL ME.
